The more we remember his last word "If I die don't give up" the more we remember those that gave their lives for this struggle the more courageous to fight ahead we become. This is battle between light and darkness. Darkness can never overshadow Light. We are Biafrans ! We are the sons and daughters of the rising sun, Nigeria sees us and comprehend us not. Lessons from the recent outburst of Onyeka Onwuenu's Son Onyeka Nwelue on the Uprising of Biafra Agitation.
Though his opinion doesn't count on Biafra restoration project but there are lessons from his speech.....!!!
-just like I have observed, large percentage our youths are not well informed about Biafra war, they were not taught the history of the Nigeria-Biafra war,none of their parents shared the true story to them, all they can understand/see about Biafra is another War,pictures of children suffering from kwashiorkor which was prevalent during the war, they only see death each time Biafra is mentioned. The government of Nigeria deliberately obliterated that part of history in the school curriculum to make sure the younger generation don't understand what really happened, in contrast South Africa is teaching the Soweto uprising in their schools and this made the younger generation to be more informed about the struggles of their nationhood.
The role of the youths in Biafra restoration project is very important, because the youths occupied a larger percentage of the population and so therefore should be informed and educated about the past events. It is time those who know about Biafra rise and begin massive evangelism in our schools,universities, polytechnics, colleges and every youth platform. This is to clear their fears and misconceptions, let them have the boldness to ask questions and make research who they are and ultimately bring them on board the train of restoration. We need our youths to be informed, we are the leaders of tomorrow, the future belongs to us and we must rewrite our future if we know the truth....!!!
