Episode 4
"Sam, my spirit is r£stless, and that's how it will continue to be till I get vêngeànce, please help me."
"What do you want me to do?
I don't even know the cúlprit in person neither do I know his address, even if I know him and his residence, will I just go and challenge him that he k¡lled someone? I'm sure know what would be my fate if I embark on such a journey of stúpidity" I poured out my mind in confusion and she remained silent for quite some time.
"I will not let you go alone,
I will be following you to give you directions on what to do,"
she elucidated.
"Kokorokooo! Kokorokooo!" Cocks crowed and I slowly opened my eyes,
Behold it was a beautiful morning,
I scanned the entire room and found Aria quietly sitting in a corner of the room.
"Wait, is this how you've been since last night?" I asked unbelievably.
"Yes," she replied with a calm voice, her face mean and motionless.
"Why didn't you sleep?" I asked,
"Only mortal has the ability to sleep," she replied making me a bit confused,
"What do you mean ?" I asked anxiously,
"Once a person closes the eyes and the spirit departs from the body, there's nothing like sleep again, have you ever had a dream where you're sleeping in your dream?"
When she asked this question,
I thought carefully, trying to recall any time I had ever seen myself sleeping in my dream but couldn't even remember one, so I answered,
"No".
"Well," she continued.
"Sleep and de@th are just the same, the difference is that sleeping is a process whereby the spirit leaves the body for a brief moment while de@th is a situation whereby the spirit leaves and never returns.
"Hmmm," I heaved after she was done speaking.
"That so-called Jeff deserves the wôrst in this life,
He deserves to rôt in jàil,
In fact, let's be going right away, " I voiced ángrily.
"Do you know where we're going right now? "She asked.
"No, "I replied expectantly,
"To a police station," she announced, making my heart skip.
"Huh, police station, what for? "I exclaimed fearfully.
"To file a report, of course, that's the first thing to do," she explained.
"Hmmm, I haven't done anything like this before."
"Do not worry, I will be with you throughout to tell you everything you need to do," she explained.
"Good morning officers," I greeted as I entered the police station.
"How are you doing boy, what brought you to the police station this morning?" One of them asked without looking up from the file his eyes were glued to.
"I'm fine sir, I have come to make the report of a crïme that was committed 12 months ago, "I replied.
"That's suitably a year now, right? "He asked.
"Yessir," I replied
He asked for my name, my age, and my residence and finally told me to proceed to report the case.
I cleared my throat and started speaking,
"One year ago, a girl by the name: Aria Johnson was reportedly missing, the search for her was launched but no one was able to know her whereabouts since then.
The case was aborted because no one was able to get any relevant information about her.
But the cûlprit is no other person than her boyfriend,
"He used her for môney ritûal by r@ping her to de@th." When I was done speaking, the officer who was noting down my report removed his transparent spectacle and hit both hands on the table, to buy my full attention.
"Look here boy," He commanded, his eyeballs pointing directly into mine.
"Are you sure of what you're talking about?
Make sure you're telling the truth because if we find out you're lying, we'll let you know that the Police is only friend of responsible people."
When he said that, fear gripped my heart,
"What do I tell them?"I asked Aria who stood behind me.
"Tell them, you'll show them my body in his house," She replied,
"Who are you talking to? "
One of the officers asked.
"It's Aria, she said that I should tell you, people, that I will take you to Jeff's house." It was when I had already finished speaking that I remembered I was the only one who could see or communicate with Aria.
"Ahh!" I exclaimed in Yoruba tone, realizing that I had made the greatest mistake and there seemed to be no remedy.
On hearing this, the officer who noted down my report furiously tore it out and tore it in pieces.
"Officer Mark!" He called with a ráging voice.
"Show sir." The Officer I identified to be the officer Mark rushed into the Officer saluted.
"Why did you allow a person in need of a psychiatrist's attention to walk into this place?" The one who noted down my report yélled at him.
"I'm sorry Sir, I had no idea, his character and conduct seemed normal when he came." Officer Mike apologized.
It was at this point that I realized they were talking about me,
"Please, I'm not màd, I don't need any psychiatrist's attention, I'm only trying to help an innocent get jûstice." I pleaded shakingly.
"Look at what someone is saying and you're saying you had no idea, take him out, lock him up in the cèll, and contact a psychiatrist immediately!" The one who noted down my report yèlled ángrily.
"No! I'm not mád, I know what I'm saying!" With this exclamation, I quickly turned to run but two officers mysteriously appeared from nowhere and séized me.
"No! Leave me! I'm not mád!" I kept on scréaming and strûggling as they carried me away.
Before I knew it, I had already been thrown in and locked up in a stînky room. "I'm not mád! Let me out! I'm only helping an innocent girl get her révenge and rest in peace, Open up!" I kept on scréaming, while hîtting iron door with all my strength, hoping they would hear me out and come to open it but nobody showed up.
After a very long time of hîtting the door and scréaming, I sat down on the floor with my back resting on the door as I brôke down in tears.
"I can't believe I used my own feet to walk myself into a police cèll all in the name of helping an innocent girl get jûstice and now she is nowhere to be found,"
"Aria! Aria! Aria! You can't just abandôn like this, Aria!" I criéd and criéd and criéd but there was no trace of her.
