SHOCKING: ECOWAS Reveals Niger Delta Avengers Are Planing Using Biological And Chemical Weapons Against Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has cautioned the federal government on the possibility of Boko Haram and Niger-Delta militants using biological and chemical weapons .

To prevent this, the federal government is working with ECOWAS to halt the proliferation of such weapons by ensuring stricter control of the purchase and use of such weapons.
Speaking at the “International workshop on Assistance and Protection Against Chemical Weapons” organised by the National Authority on Chemical and Biological Weapons Conventions Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the African Union (AU) and ECOWAS, ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Mrs. Halima Ahmed said the commission is committed to ensuring that chemical and biological weapons threats are not allowed with the consequences of their usage in Syria and other parts of Middle Eat.
“On no account should Boko Haram insurgents and Niger Delta militants be allowed to have access to chemical and biological weapons in Nigeria or other terror groups in Africa.
It is our desire that at the end of the project, our members should be able to provide assistance and protection to their citizens and where possible to other member-states in the sub-region”,ll she said.
On his part, Permanent Secretary, Political Affairs, in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Amb. Olukunle Bamgbose said the collaboration with ECOWAS would deepen import controls within the sub-region.
“The chemical weapons that are imported into the country are used for the purposes for which they are meant and the government also makes sure that these chemicals do not get into the hands of non-state actors like Boko Haram or the Niger Delta Avengers.
“There are many companies in Nigeria that make use of these chemical weapons and ofcourse their importation is also being controlled by NAFDAC and that is why NAFDAC and the security agencies are here to make sure that these chemicals which have multiple uses don’t get into the hands of non-state actors in Nigeria. If not well-managed, if it gets into the wrong hands, it would have great repercussions”, he added.
