From my Webster Standard dictionary, judiciary system is referred as a system of law Court’s that administer justice and constitute the judiciary branch Of government.

From the above definition, from my perceptional view. Judiciary system is not just anyhow discipline neither was it made for nuisance, rogues, greedy people, bias people, double standard people, corrupt people or people without principles.

But this is a well-organized Institute of discipline meant for personalities that are carefully nurtured and confirmed in great wisdom of reasoning, honesty, self-discipline and with required humility & boldness to administer a reputable justice without fear or favor. It is indeed a high noble profession, they are an embodiment of Justice in general.

However, it only means that men that are expected to be on the bench of this institute, are high calibre men of honours in character, speech and wisdom. Men that can easily depict crookedness or credibility both of the government and society either to admonished or to uphold respectively. Men that can stand their grounds and say no to no and yes to yes at all times, no matter who is involved.

It equally means that in the famine of justice in any nation or society, or institutions is the last resort and must deliver justice for peace to rain and to restore the dignity of that nation from the contending anarchy. These automatically draws the conclusion as this institution being the last hope of Common man. For they have the charge to interpreted the law of the land which nobody must be above or below obedient to.

But it is unfortunate that this institution is doomed in Nigeria, due to corruption as the bedrock, tyrannies of the current government and acceptance of indiscipline and double standard beings like JUSTICE JOHN STOSHO.

With the case account of Col. Sambo Dasuki ( Ex-NSA) who has met several bails conditions including the recent one in ECOWAS COURT has been bluntly ignored. He is still being detained today by President Muhamadu Buhari through the DSS.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been granted bails by a court of competent jurisdiction on 19th October and 17th of December 2015 respectively. But was not released till date. In the quest to jail and kill Mazi Nnamdi KANU by the incumbent government of Nigeria, Muhamadu Buhari. Jus because he asks for the emancipation of his people which is in UN Charter 2007 which Nigeria is signatory to, Justice John Tsoho has been president BUHARI willing tools to accomplished this evil plan.

Justice John Tsoho was meant to deliver justice as his name applies. But he changed to injustice John Tsoho after being allegedly accused of collecting hundred million bribe (N100,000,000,) from his master President Buhari to jail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at all cost.

As his wise colleagues hence off from the case having see the danger of travesty of justice ahead. But injustice John Tsoho out of greed, undisciplined and irresponsible gross misconduct, has abused the Nigerian constitution, judiciary system and human right by prejudgement plans to jail Nnamdi Kanu. This is a travesty of Justice

On 19th of February 2016, Justice John Tsoho overruled the masking witness against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. On March 7th,2016 Justice John Tsoho ruled against his pronouncements on February 19th, when he refused to mask witness or barring members of the public from the trial. He equally ordered the use of non public routes and restrooms by the witness. Now making himself a confused , bias and double standard judge.

The travesty of justice played out by this corrupt judge called justice John Tsoho for some months now, brought a heavy disarray & dilemma in the judiciary system and great anarchy in Nigeria at large. It made incumbent power holders in the government brought in a modified system of corruption which is based on deceiving the masses with anti-corruption programs thereby looting the country dry. And intimidating, harassing and killing of the oppositions to their new corruption invention.

The action of injustices John Tsoho has consolidated his master President Muhanmadu Buhari's tyrannies. He has made King Buhari believed that he is above the law that gave the platform for his presidency. Therefore that he is the law himself whatever he says is the final and nobody, there questions him.

The irresponsible acts of injustice John Tsoho have equally victimised the men of good honour in the judiciary. People like Justice Adeniyi Ademola etc. Has become corrupt judges while the actual dog that ate the sheath is now holy.

Clampdown, kidnapping & intimidation of respectable judges are the trending issues now because they refused to accept and trade on the path of the tyrant. Judiciary system is now a laughing stock because of one man irresponsibility. Justice in Nigeria is now for sale. The highest bidder of bribes gets justice. No more hope for common people. Everyone is now a slave to this vampires in power due to rapped of constitutions & disarray in the judiciary.

Therefore, I call on the elders and men of unshakable discipline of the National Judicial Council (NJC) to rise up now and condemn this anomalies. Make a compulsory indefinite strike, close every law courts in Nigeria and sack this Judas called JUSTICE JOHN TSOHO in your miss He has rapped judiciary, constitution and human right. Sanction him indefinitely, use him as an escape goat for others, for he has MURDERED JUSTICE IN NIGERIA.

For if this action is not taken urgently now, Nigeria judiciary system will have no place again in the record of this profession both locally and globally. It will rub both those studying this course and those yet to start the journey in Nigeria global recognitions.

Indeed this is an awful show of shame & ignominy as Nigerian judiciary system and the executive arms of the government have proven themselves to be grossly unlettered in both knowledge of law and its applications.

Sack INJUSTICE JOHN TSOHO NOW and restitute this dilemma in the judiciary system and teach king Buhari that nobody is above the law nor below obedient to the law. For you people have to power to stop him and his cohorts or allow him (BUHARI) to illiterately jail and kill all of you. IT MIGHT BE BITTER, BUT INDEED TRUTH IS LIGHT, LIFE, WISDOM, GOLDEN AND HAS NO SUBSTITUTE.

Nigeria: Justice John Tsoho Has Eaten Forbidden Fruit And Need To Be Sanctioned

October 24, 2016.

Written by Chinedu Solomon

In the garden of Eden, the first instruction was given to Adam not to eat forbidden fruit and knowingly or unknowingly he failed by eating the said fruit. Adam was hand work of Chukwu Okike (God the Creator) but he sanctioned him for disobedience of the law. Rules and regulations are there for Man to obtain a lawful society and decent life.

Tsoho has eaten forbidden fruit given to him by the executive led by the APC government and their archaic President; Hitler of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Who will sanction John Tsoho to serve as an epitome to other corrupt judges?

The National Judicial Council (NJC), is an executive body established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in accordance with the provisions of Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution as amended to protect the Judiciary of Nigeria from the whims and caprices of the Executive.

National Judicial Council cannot seat and watch executive muscle and rough handles their independence. Executive have infiltrated the judiciary and some judges especially John Tsoho who is now portraying Nigeria judiciary as infants and bunch of bimbos. Until NJC sanction John Tsoho, Judiciary will never regain their freedom.

The bone of contention here is Tsoho. The same way he shamefully alters his verdict in Kanu's case was what happened to Babalakin’s case with EFCC.

“Babalakin’s grievance, in the petition dated June 19, 2015, was that Tsoho vacated his own interim injunction of April 29, 2015, barring the respondents from proceeding with the proposed arraignment of Babalakin pending the determination of the fundamental rights enforcement suit.”

“The applicant’s lawyers claimed that judge, John Tsoho discharged the order without a formal application from the respondents.”

John Tsoho has ridiculed himself and the judiciary to the extent an illiterate President; Buhari gave him an order on what to do in a case of international interest like that of Kanu's.

It's better to be late than never, Nation Judicial Council still has bronze and not golden opportunity to rescue judicial image by sacking the most corrupt judge, John Tsoho to serve as a warning to other unscrupulous judges.

I also want to use this opportunity to advice Justice Binta Nyako, the current judge handling Kanu's case to deliver justice without fear or favour. I don't want to believe that her inclination to Buhari and Katsina state will affect her rulings.

If Justice Binta Nyako follows Tsoho’s footsteps on November 8th, 2016, we will not waste a second to drag her to the department of disgraced unlearned Tsoho in the zoological Republic of Nigeria.

I will conclude with this quote from Socrates, “unexamined life is not worth living”.

Public Enlightenment Series:

Propaganda #1: Biafra is only about the Igbo-speaking people mainly in the unconstitutional Southeast geo-political zone of Nigeria.

There has been systematic pidgeon-holing of Biafra into Igbo by the Lagos-Ibadan media. In doing this, they implanted into the subconsciousness of both foreign and local observers that the quest for Biafra is an “Igbo thing.“ But they failed to inform their audience that the man who piloted the affairs of Biafra after General Odimegwu-Ojukwu travelled to Ivory Coast was not from the Igbo-speaking area of Biafra. The Lagos-Ibadan media intentionally failed to let the world know that, during the war of genocide on Biafra, there were high-ranking military and civilian Administrative Officers who were not from the Igbo-speaking area of Biafra working for their nation of Biafra. Fortunately, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO through the media arm – Radio Biafra London (RBL) – has exposed this lie being peddled by the Lagos-Ibadan media. Now, the entire world has come to know that Biafra is not all about the Igbos. As a matter of fact, Igbo is only a language spoken by some people in Biafra. IPOB through RBL has proven beyond reasonable doubt that Biafra is a people and Igbo is just a language.

Propaganda #2: Igbos do not love themselves.

This is another lie from the pit of hell peddled by the Lagos-Ibadan media. It is on record that the Igbo-speaking people of Biafra and known for identifying their people from different villages and grooming them into successful business tycoons. Also, Igbo-speaking Biafrans are known for setting up Town, Community, and Village meetings in far away places outside of their homelands. On the other hand, there have been very disastrous and gut-wrenching communal clashes between Ife and Modakeke or between Tivs and Jukuns. There have been genocidal clashes between Katafs and Fulanis or between Beroms and Munchi people. Despite these communal clashes that have led to the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives, the Lagos-Ibadan media have remained mute but rather keep hammering on the notion that Igbos do not love themselves. Thanks to Chukwu Okike Abiama for the emergence of IPOB and RBL. Now, we know that Igbo-speaking Biafrans love themselves and they also love other Biafrans who are not from the Igbo-speaking area of Biafraland. This propaganda by the Lagos-Ibadan media has once more been defeated and thrown into the abyss.

Propaganda #3: Igbos love money more than anything else including their freedom, and they love money more than other tribes love money.

This propaganda was initiated immediately after the end of the genocidal war waged on Biafra by Buhari and his Northern brothers. The Lagos-Ibadan media championed this fallacy and kept bringing it into cartoons and comedies and successfully made it a national mantra. However, events in the contraption called Nigeria have proven unarguably that those who stole Nigeria blind were never from Igbo-speaking area of Biafra. Umaru Dikko, Tafa Balogun, Bola Ahmed Tinubu a.k.a. Jagaban, T. Y. Danjuma, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Sani Abacha, Atiku Abubakar, Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, and the list goes on and on, are some of the numerous names of those who stole stupendously from the public treasury. These “Ali-Baba’s“ were never prosecuted but rather celebrated, and one of them is presently the president of Nigeria. We are glad that IPOB and RBL have exposed them for who they are and comprehensively deconstructed this propaganda by the Lagos-Ibadan media. The Lagos-Ibadan media always paint the Igbo-speaking Biafrans in a bad light but see nothing wrong in the thieving people from the Western and Northern areas of the British criminality called Nigeria.

Propaganda #4: Igbos will dominate other tribes in Biafraland, hence these other tribes should distance themselves from the restoration of Biafra.

This was the propaganda used to divide Biafra and cause mutual suspicion and hatred between the Igbo-speaking people of Biafra and their kit and kin who speak other languages in Biafra. The Lagos-Ibadan media cunningly avoided revealing the facts that the Hausa-Fulani alone own 90% of the oil resources in Biafraland including those they claim will be dominated by the Igbo-speaking people. They also denied their audience the opportunity to learn that the seaports in Biafraland have been concessioned to only Hausa-Fulani people. Furthermore, the Lagos-Ibadan media refused to tell the world that Ken Saro-Wiwa, Isaac Adaka Boro, Chief Harry Marshall, Chief A. K. Dikkibo, Chief Alfred Rewane, and so many other illustrious sons of Biafra were all killed by Hausa-Fulani or Yorubas. Even recently, Olusegun Obasanjo massacred almost every human being in Odi community in Bayelsa State. Again, IPOB and RBL have exposed this propaganda by the Lagos-Ibadan media. The Igbo-speaking people of Biafra have never dominated any group. Instead, the Hausa-Fulani and their Yoruba counterparts are the groups dominating others including the Igbo-speaking people of Biafraland.

Propaganda #5: The safety of investments/assets of Igbos in other parts of Nigeria will not be guaranteed if Biafra leaves Nigeria. Hence these asset owners should not be part of Biafra restoration process.

This is a scare-mongering propaganda aimed at putting fear into those Biafrans who have invested heavily in cities outside Biafraland. The Lagos-Ibadan media are spreading false information that Biafrans would lose their investments if they support the emergence of the nation of Biafra. But they failed to inform their audience that there is hardly any prominent Hausa-Fulani man, including Muhammadu Buhari, who does not have a house in London. Same thing for every single wealthy Yoruba man. Why is it that their properties are not in danger in London and why is it that it is only properties of Igbo-speaking Biafrans that will be in jeopardy in what remains of Nigeria when Biafra is gone? The well-researched work of IPOB and RBL has taught Biafrans that their assets and investments are very secure in Nigeria even after the exit of Biafra.

Biafrans were informed by IPOB and RBL that the reason why some properties were lost by Biafrans after the war of genocide was that the case was between the individual asset owners and the Nigerian state. But in the case of the independent nation of Biafra, it will be a case between Biafra and the country that attempts to tamper with the assets of Biafrans. For instance, if Oduduwa makes any move to jeopardize the assets of Biafrans in Lagos, it will be a case between the nation of Biafra and the nation of Oduduwa and surely victory shall be that of Biafra. Hence the Biafran asset owners will have nothing to worry about. Therefore, the propaganda by the Lagos-Ibadan media has fallen flat, courtesy of IPOB and RBL.

Propaganda #6: Igbos have intermarried with people from other parts of Nigeria, hence no need for an independent Biafra nation because of this inter-marriage.

This is one of the most grotesque of all the propaganda orchestrated by the Lagos-Ibadan media. There are many marriages that are intercontinental, yet one country did not collapse into the other because of that marriage. Even the great Nelson Mandela married the former First Lady of Mozambique. Why did Mozambique not collapse into South Africa because Mandela has now married their former First Lady? Should inter-marriage between Biafrans and other people prevent Biafrans from seeking their independence? Governor Adams Oshiomole married outside Nigeria, therefore, that country from which Oshiomole married should be taken over by Nigeria! What a shame to the Lagos-Ibadan media!!

Propaganda #7: Igbos want Biafra because of oil and gas in the so-called Niger-Delta/South-south.

The Lagos-Ibadan media have used this propaganda to sow a seed of discord and suspicion between the Igbo-speaking Biafrans and their brothers and sisters in the so-called Niger-Delta or South-South. But they corruptly denied their audience the fact that the oil and gas resources have been controlled by the Hausa-Fulani from inception till date. They also refused to enlighten their audience that oil and gas also exist in the Igbo-speaking area of Biafraland. If the Igbo-speaking people of Biafra are after the oil and gas of their kit and kins, what of the Hausa-Fulani who have been stealing this oil and gas resources in broad daylight since 1956? Major infrastructures were built in Lagos and Abuja with money from oil and gas in Biafraland.

These infrastructures are still maintained till date with money from oil and gas from Biafraland. It, therefore, means that the Lagos-Ibadan media don’t want Biafra because they want the Hausa-Fulani and their Yoruba counterpart to maintain the status quo of continuous stealing of the oil and gas resources in Biafraland. But this will not happen again because IPOB and RBL have educated Biafrans enough that we will no longer be deceived by this blatant lie by the Lagos-Ibadan media.

Propaganda #8: Seeking Biafra nation means war, in other words, Biafra restoration is equivalent to war hence Igbos should remember what happened to them between 1967 and 1970.

This is another way of imparting morbid fear into Biafrans by reminding them of the genocide meted out to them by Muhammadu Buhari and his Hausa-Fulani brothers between 1967 and 1970. But what the Lagos-Ibadan media failed to understand is that the world has changed a lot from 1970 till date. Several countries have emerged without war. The Indigenous People of Biafra are pursuing the restoration of their God-given nation of Biafra in the most civilized manner. For this reason, IPOB remains peaceful and law-abiding.

The government of Buhari has tried every means possible to provoke IPOB members into violence, but they have failed. Biafrans are not warmongers and do not want war. Biafrans will never be drawn into any war. Therefore, the attempts by the Lagos-Ibadan media to associate Biafra restoration quest with war is dead on arrival. IPOB and RBL have taught us that we do not need to engage Nigeria into any war for Biafra to come. The reason is that Biafra restoration is divinely ordained and is unstoppable, hence war is not necessary.

Propaganda #9: Biafra is land-locked and therefore not viable as a sovereign nation.

This is the most laughable of all the propaganda by the Lagos-Ibadan media. First of all, it is not true that Biafra is land-locked. Secondly, there are land-locked countries that are performing much better than Nigeria that has access to the sea. The performance or viability of a country is not based on access to the sea. Somalia is not land-locked, but it is a failed state. On the contrary, Zambia, Lesotho, and Botswana are peaceful countries with economic and political stability. Biafra is heavily endowed with human resources which are the greatest gift any nation can have. Therefore, this hogwash on being land-locked by the Lagos-Ibadan media is like singing off-key in music and which does not resonate with any rational thinking.

Propaganda #10: So-called Igbo elites do not support the Biafra restoration process, so why should the masses continue working towards the restoration of the nation of Biafra.

This very lazy argument falls flat on the ground that nation-building is not an affair exclusively reserved for the elites. The Lagos-Ibadan media should understand that Biafra restoration process is a “bottom-up“ process in the sense that the masses are the key players. The Indigenous People of Biafra is a mass-movement comprising ordinary Biafrans from all walks of life. IPOB is not an elitist organization but a grassroots movement. On the other hand, the Lagos-Ibadan media are good at sampling a few Biafran turncoats especially those from the Igbo-speaking areas known for wheeling and dealing with the murderous Muhammadu Buhari.

By the way, who are these elites? Is the Lagos-Ibadan media defining Igbo elite as somebody who can read and write in the employ of Nigeria or is it somebody who lives in Lagos and Abuja with a chieftaincy title? So where were these elites when Gowon went scot-free after the massacre of over five million Biafrans? In which country on earth are a bunch of good-for-nothing collaborators referred to as elite? Is the Lagos-Ibadan media implying that those in the leadership of IPOB are not educated enough or financially comfortable enough to be considered to be elites? The Lagos-Ibadan media will soon find out that, at the appropriate time, these turncoats will proceed on self-exile while the masses will occupy Biafraland. Therefore, the so-called elites are of no consequence in the scheme of things in Biafra restoration process. The Lagos-Ibadan media must know that IPOB and RBL have educated, enlightened, and energized the masses extensively and they are ready to restore their nation with or without the so-called elites.

Some 83 Nigerian soldiers are missing in action since Boko Haram Islamic extremists attacked a remote military base in the northeast, senior army officers said Sunday.

The soldiers were unable to fight back and fled because Boko Haram had superior fire power, the officers told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to give information to reporters.
Morale also was low among the troops because they were being rationed to one meal a day and their allowances were being pilfered by their commanders, the officers said.Army spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman reported last week that "some" soldiers were missing and 13 wounded when the insurgents on Oct. 17 attacked their base in Gashigar village, on the border with Niger. Usman has not responded to requests for the actual number.
Dozens of fleeing troops jumped into the Niger River and 22 were pulled from the water by soldiers from that neighboring country, officers said. Many soldiers are feared to have drowned, they said.
In a separate development, hunters killed seven Boko Haram fighters who were burning buildings and huts in northeastern Makwaa village, the hunters and villagers confirmed Sunday. "We engaged them in a fierce battle for close to three hours, we overpowered them, resulting in the killing of seven," hunter Aisha Gombi said of Saturday night's firefight. "One was caught alive with gun wounds and others escaped into the bush."
President Muhammadu Buhari promised to better arm Nigeria's military when he was elected in March 2015, blaming corruption for the deaths of thousands including soldiers in the 7-year-old Islamic insurgency that has killed more than 20,000 people.
Billions of dollars meant to buy arms were stolen or diverted to the presidential campaign of former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to ongoing court cases.
Military officers also are currently facing courts-martial for allegedly selling arms and ammunition to Boko Haram, indicating the corruption bedeviling the country's fight against the Islamic extremists continues despite government efforts to halt graft.
Still, the military in the past year has succeeded in dislodging the insurgents from most towns and villages where they had set up an Islamic caliphate. But the extremists continue to attack remote villages and main roads that they have mined. Nigeria's army has reported thwarting and killing several suicide bombers in the past month.
The United Nations has warned that tens of thousands among the 2.6 million people forced from their homes by the insurgency are facing famine-like conditions that already are killing children.

Reuben Abati: Evil genius

Written and published 23rd July, 2014

NewsRescue

rescuedNothing is more dangerous than when a good man goes rogue. Most of the worst criminals in history were good men in society who either voluntarily or by virtue of circumstance, went rogue. We all know the award winning, chairman of the editorial board of the Nigerian Guardian, Dr Reuben Abati, our guy, a staunch truth shooter and government critic bar none. But when Reuben was sucked into the Jonathan Government, Lord have mercy!

One can only imagine what Reuben is up to today: conspiring, orchestrating, plotting and conniving. There is nowhere where you will not find Reuben or pick his dangerous scent. Reuben works between party lines, he sneaks up on activists, media editors; selling his paymasters’ wares in the last places you expect. If you are an activist or politician, you will know precisely what I am talking about. If the unbelievable story can be written, Reuben wrote it; if the unimaginable can be invented and spun, Reuben spun it. If it can be blown-up, Reuben is blowing it.

To get a clearer picture of the danger of this man, one simply has to think back and review the post election events of Nigeria, 2011. We all have it somewhere in our minds that former Head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari threatened something about making Nigeria ungovernable after he lost in 2011… and some other stuff like that? If we do, Reuben spun that. This libel was pretty much entirely cooked up by Reuben Abati to discredit the person of Gen. Buhari who was legitimately contesting the election process in 2011. This was the copyright invention of Reuben in that evil memo he spun one dark midnight in April of 2011, the Reuben memo: ‘For the attention of General Buhari.’

The evidence of this is the reality that Buhari took Reuben Abati and the Guardian he used to edit to court and Reuben begged and settled out of court. Reuben and his Guardian quietly published a retraction of the slanderous and libelous charges against the person of Buhari, as quoted below in the Guardian of July, 2013.; but few read it and the damage was already done. Buhari would remain tainted till the day he dies, thanks to a very sinister, evil genius Reuben.

GUARDIAN Re: For the attention of General Buhari

Thursday, 11 July 2013 000 Editor

SIR: “On April 22, 2011, The Guardian Newspaper published an article on page 51 titled “For the attention of General Buhari” wherein certain allegations were made against General Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged role in the violence emanating from the elections.

The publication was based on information which we believed to be reliable at that time. Since the publication, however, we now have reason to believe that certain parts of the story were not verified to be correct before the publication.

We assure General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) GCFR of our highest esteem and regret any distress or embarrassment which the said publication may have caused him.”

— Editor http://www.ngrguardiannews.com..../index.php?option=co

In our March 15th article, ‘Now that Nigeria is ungovernable, what next?’ we examined all available public evidence of statements credited with the ‘ungovernable’ threat. See: http://ends.ng/?p=679 . There is no link. Buhari
only warned of consequences for similar rigging and malpractice as occurred in 2011 if it was repeated in 2015. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, unlike bad news and slander, this apology hardly spread past the 20,000 copies it was printed on and was hardly read or re-visited more than 24 hours after it was published. Reuben Abati had done his worst and a perhaps too gentle soldier, Buhari made little noise to repair his image after the out-of court settlement.

Talk about plain evil that continues to pollute; sin upon sin for the slanderer. Even a recent conservative ‘Tory tradition,’ Anglican group, the Bow Group, recently sponsored a report making reference to these imaginary inventions of Reuben. To no surprise, the report by a certain Zenn failed to reference the spurious allegations – because there simply is none. To attribute animal to Reuben’s ethos, the serpent is his perfect fit.

At this time in Nigeria’s history, as bombs and snipers start to target public cleric critics of this administration and opposition politicians, and millions out of stolen billions ($) are used to create chaos in every state and between families, one must keep an eye on the evil genius and the chartered opinion machines, #SomeoneTellLEVICK anyone, who are spending our nation’s billions in expensive media propaganda, like the forward Positive Nigeria social media campaign and other powerfully sponsored campaigns popping up all of a sudden. These people are dangerous, to say the least!

Be alert and shine your eye.

Nigeria Collapse Drastically As More Companies Sack Workers, Reduce Production

The Nigeria’s current economic recession has caused anxiety and tension in the country as more companies over the weekend sackad some of their workers and reduced production.

According to report at the weekend, Dansa Foods, one of the companies in the Dangote Group, has not only scaled down its operation and laid off staff, but is also owing its employees up to six months in salaries.

The report by PM News on Saturday, says that the company has been forced to limit its production activities to only Mowa Bottle Water while suspending the production of other items as a consequence of high cost of production occasioned by high exchange rate of naira to the dollar.

We also gathered that an Ibadan-based food manufacturing company had scaled down its staff strength as well as its production level considerably, due to its inability to source raw material.

An employee of the company confided in Sunday Tribune that since the ban on wheat, the company had been facing serious challenges as it had found it difficult to access flour, its major raw material, a situation that had compelled it to cancel its multi-shift operation.

According to the employee who pleaded anonymity, “For over six months now, we have not been able to meet our production target because of our inability to get the critical raw material. As a result of this, our production has gone down. We no longer work on weekends and this has resulted in many of our staff being disengaged. Every remaining member of staff is worried about the trend as we are not sure who would be spared should this trend continue.”

Although the employee said that the company was still paying salaries, he regretted that all other perks had been cancelled.

The development underscores the fact that the food and beverage industry appears especially hit by the inclement economic weather which has rendered many companies in the country comatose.

Earlier in the year, the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTO had lamented that about three million workers in the sector could lose their jobs as major companies in the sector had concluded plans to massively sack their staff because of their inability to access forex and raw materials.

According to Quadri Olaleye, FOBTOB president, already no fewer than 3,405 workers had lost their jobs in the sub-sector.

But the development is not restricted to the food and beverage sector as even banks have been sacking their employees.

Earlier in the year, Diamond Bank Plc sacked about 200 members of its workforce. Explaining the reason for the development, the bank said it was rightsizing. It said the rightsizing was a core strategic exercise in line with the bank’s growth objective “and the will to continue the drive to optimise cost and enhance value for the shareholders at the end of the business year.”

Ecobank Nigeria also sacked over 1,000 of its employees. While confirming the development, the bank said the initial list of those to be sacked had over 1,400 workers but it was later reduced to “a little above 1,000.” It added that about 200 casual staff had their appointment regularized as they were absorbed fully into the bank.

Other banks have also had to retrench some of their staff in the course of the year. These include First Bank, FCMB and Unity Bank, among others.

The disengagement of bank employees attracted the ire of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, who issued a statement directing the lenders to stop disengaging their staff.

That has put a stop to the trend in the industry at least for now.

The aviation sector has also had a taste of the bitter pill of mass sacking as quite a number of employees in the industry have had their appointments terminated following the relocation out of the country by some of the operators as a result of the difficulty they encounter with sourcing aviation fuel and repatriating their sales to their headquarters. Iberia and United Airlines are some of the airline operators that have stopped flying into Nigeria.

The media industry has not been spared either as quite a number of newspaper companies have had to lay off their staff.

Two other Lagos-based media outfits are also reportedly about to sack hundreds of their staff in the days and weeks to come as they cold no longer cope with paying salaries.

The major challenge of newspaper companies in the country is with sourcing their major production inputs such as newsprints, films and inks, all of which are imported. The exchange rate of naira to the dollar has made the cost of these items prohibitively expensive.

One of the companies in the industry that recently sacked some of its workforce premised it on the high cost of production “which has made it impossible for us to retain the current wage bill.”
