Jammeh asks Buhari, others not to come to Gambia on Wednesday

Embattled President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia has warned the high Level ECOWAS mediation mission led by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari against coming to Banjul, the Gambian capital on Wednesday for peace talks.

He asked them to instead come on Friday.

President Buhari, who is leading the mediating team alongside Mr. John Mahama, the immediate past President of Ghana said the delay notwithstanding, the mandate of the ECOWAS would be accomplished.

Jammeh who had hoped to use the country’s Supreme Court to upturn opponent Adama Barrow’s election found the road closed today after the court postponed the hearing of the case for months.

Gambia’s Supreme Court said today that it cannot rule on Jammeh’s challenge against his electoral defeat on 1 December due to lack of judges.

“We can only hear this matter when we have a full bench of the Supreme Court,” Emmanuel Fagbenle, the court’s chief justice said Tuesday.

The Nigerian judge said the extra judges needed to hear the case were not available.

The Gambia relies on foreign judges, notably from Nigeria, to staff its courts due to a lack of trained professionals in the tiny west African state.

Jammeh’s political party lodged a legal case on his behalf last month aimed at annulling the December 1 election result and triggering new elections.

“This is why alternative dispute resolution is important,” he said.

“We are now only left with the ECOWAS mediation initiative and the inter-party committee set up by government to resolve the dispute,” he said.

Who have no business being here, let alone committing the further crime of voting for OUR President.

Donald Trump plans to charge billionaire elitist George Soros as a “threat to national security” in the United States when he takes office later this month.

In supporting documents attached to this diplomatic request, this report continues, the Trump Transition Team asserts that 25 days after the signing of this Executive Order by President Obama, on 31 March 2014, US diplomatic cables show that Soros did indeed work to “undermine the processes and institutions in Ukraine” becoming, in fact, the de-facto ruler of this nation—and who in a meeting with US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt, “laid the basis for war” by his stating that the “Federalization plan being marketed by Putin to Merkel and Obama would result in Russia gaining influence and de facto control over eastern regions in Ukraine.”

The federalization plan (similar to the States of America) for Ukraine supported by President Putin, Chancellor Merkel and President Obama, this report explains, would have created a peaceful transition of power in this nation—but due to Soros’s illegal intervention has, instead, led to mass conflict and bloodshed costing the lives of an estimated 9,600 men, women and children.

The trial of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO, Nnamdi Kanu and three others begun Tuesday at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Before commencement of the trial, Kanu openly embarrassed police officers drafted to secure the hearing.

At resumption of proceedings, the defence counsel informed the court of its pending applications seeking to quash the charges against the four defendants.

Counsel to Kanu, Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, also informed the court of another application challenging the competence of the charge against the defendants.

Ejiofor told the court that the proof of evidence did not support the charges against his client to warrant his continual detention.

It would be recalled that Justice Binta Nyako had on Dec. 13, 2016, ruled that the identity of witnesses in the matter would be protected but at Tuesday’s sitting, the judge and parties were all shielded from public view using clinic curtain rail.

There was also a heavy presence of security personnel within and around the court premises.

Kanu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, who are on trial for treasonable felony and terrorism were shielded from the public in the courtroom.

The case was adjourned to January 12th, 2016.
