Abandoned in space in 1967, a US satellite has started transmitting again

An American satellite abandoned in 1967, now assumed to simply be space junk, has started transmitting again after 46 years.

This was one of the satellites designed and built by Lincoln Laboratory at MIT between 1965 and 1976, for testing techniques for satellite communication.

They made the series of satellites easy to recognize by naming them LES1 through to LES9. LES1-LES4 suffered different launch issues. LES1 and LES2 were supposed to be delivered to the same 2800 x 15000 km orbit, but a failure of a boost stage left LES1 in a 2800 km circular orbit.

LES3-LES4 were supposed to land in geostationary orbit, but didn’t make it due to a launch problem which left them in transfer orbit. Even though the first four satellites in the series ended up in the wrong orbits, they all produced remarkable results. LES 5, 6, 8, and 9 all ended up where they were supposed to. LES7 never made it anywhere due to the funding drying up and the program being canceled.

In 2013 in North Cornwall, UK, an Amateur Radio Astronomer picked up a signal which he determined to be the LES1 that was built by MIT in 1965. The satellite never made it to its intended orbit and had been spinning out of control ever since.

Phil Williams, the amateur radio astronomer from near Bude, picked out the odd signal which was transmitting due to it tumbling end over end every four seconds as the solar panels became shadowed by the engine. “This gives the signal a particularly ghostly sound as the voltage from the solar panels fluctuates,” Williams said.

It’s more than likely the onboard batteries have disintegrated, and something else caused its 237Mhz transmission to resume when it was in sunlight.

The LES1 is about the size of a small automobile and should not cause any issues more than any other piece of space junk in orbit.

This proves electronics built around 50 years ago, 12 years before Voyager 1, and far before microprocessors and integrated circuits are still capable of working in the hostile environs of space. Phil refers to his hobby as “Radio-Archaeology”.

LES1 and LES2 were almost identical experimental communication satellites. They both had a single X-band transponder and an 8-horn electronically switched antenna. Altitude control and sensing experiments were conducted on these twin satellites.

Their first project initiative was to build, launch, and field a system to show off practical military satellite communications. Project West Ford’s availability for the advanced super-high-frequency (SHF) technology (at seven-to-eight gigahertz) contributed to the decision to design the system for that band.

The concurrent procurement of a series of satellites and terminals for the Department of Defense that commenced with the Initial Defense Communications Satellite Program (IDCSP) meant lessons were learned from the experiments would find an additional application.

On February 11, 1965, LES1 was launched from Cape Canaveral but only accomplished a few of its objectives. It seems miswiring of the satellite circuitry was what caused it to never leave the circular orbit and it stopped transmitting in 1967. LES2, the twin of LES1, did much better; it made its planned final orbit on May 6, 1965.

The authorities must immediately launch an impartial investigation and bring the perpetrators to book,” said Makmid Kamara, Interim Director of Amnesty International Nigeria. Extrajudicial executions Amnesty International further stated in their report that: “By far, the largest number of pro-Biafra activists were killed on Biafra Remembrance Day on 30 May 2016 when an estimated 1,000 IPOB members and supporters gathered for a rally in Onitsha, Anambra State. The night before the rally, the security forces raided homes and a church where IPOB members were sleeping. On Remembrance Day itself, the security forces shot people in several locations. Amnesty International has not been able to verify the exact number of extrajudicial executions, but estimates that at least 60 people were killed and 70 injured in these two days. The real number is likely to be higher.” Stating that they have reviewed videos of a peaceful gathering of IPOB members and supporters at Aba National High School on 9 February 2016, the body also said that the Nigerian military surrounded the group and then fired live ammunition at them without any prior warning. Eyewitnesses and local human rights activists said that many of the protesters at Aba were rounded up and taken away by the military. On 13 February, 13 corpses, including those of men known to have been taken by the military were discovered in a pit near the Aba highway. It is chilling to see how these soldiers gunned down peaceful IPOB members. The video evidence shows that this was a military operation with intent to kill and injure,” Makmid Kamara alleged. No action by authorities to ensure accountability The organisation regretted that despite overwhelming evidence that the Nigerian security forces committed gross human rights violations including extrajudicial executions and torture, no investigations have been carried out by the authorities. “Amnesty International has repeatedly called on the government of Nigeria to initiate independent investigations into evidence of crimes under international law, and President Buhari has repeatedly promised that Amnesty International’s reports would be looked into. However, no concrete steps have been taken,” said Makmid Kamara. Army debunks Amnesty Report But the Nigerian Army yesterday debunked the allegation made by Amnesty International, describing the claims of mass killing of MASSOB/IPOB protesters by the military between August 2015 and August 2016 as unfounded. A statement signed by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, a copy of which was emailed to Vanguard said the insinuation that troops perpetrated the killing of defenceless agitators is untrue. The statement read: “This is an outright attempt to tarnish the reputation of the security forces in general and the Nigerian Army in particular, for whatever inexplicable parochial reasons. For umpteenth times, the Nigerian Army has informed the public about the heinous intent of this Non-Governmental Organisation which is never relenting in dabbling into our national security in manners that obliterate objectivity, fairness and simple logic. “The evidence of MASSOB/IPOB violent secessionist agitations is widely known across the national and international domains. Their modus operandi has continued to relish violence that threatens national security. The adherence to Rules of Engagement by the military has been sacrosanct in all of these incidents. “Therefore, it is rather unfortunate for the Amnesty International to allow itself to be lured into this cheap and unpopular venture that aims to discredit the undeniable professionalism as well as responsiveness of the Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.”

3. Must commit right now to a vigorous fight (including civil disobedience, if necessary) which will block any and all Donald Trump Supreme Court nominees who do not meet our approval. We demand the Democrats in the Senate aggressively filibuster any nominees who support Citizens United or who oppose the rights of women, immigrants and the poor. This is non-negotiable.

4. Demand the DNC apologize to Bernie Sanders for trying to fix the primaries against him, for spinning the press to ignore his historic campaign, for giving Clinton the questions in advance at the Flint debate, for its latent ageism and anti-Semism in trying to turn voters against him because of his age or religious beliefs, and for its anti-democracy system of “superdelegates” who are elected by no one. We all know now had Bernie been given a fair shot, he probably would have been the nominee and he — as the true outsider and “change” candidate –would have inspired and fired up the base and soundly defeated Donald Trump. If no apology is soon forthcoming from the DNC, that’s ok — when we take over the Democratic Party (see yesterday’s To-Do List, #1), we will issue the apology in person.

5. Demand that President Obama establish a Special Prosecutor to investigate who and what was behind FBI Director James Comey’s illegal interference into the Presidential election 11 days before the vote was held.

6. Begin a national push while it’s fresh in everyone’s mind for a constitutional amendment to fix our broken electoral system: 1. Eliminate the Electoral College — popular vote only. 2. Paper ballots only — no electronic voting. 3. Election Day must be made a holiday for all — or held on a weekend so more people vote. 4. All citizens, regardless of any run-ins with the criminal “justice” system, must have the right to vote. (In swing states like Florida and Virginia, 30-40% of all Black men are prohibited by law from voting.)

7. Convince President Obama to immediately do what he should have done a year ago: Send in the Army Corps of Engineers to Flint to dig up and replace all the poisoned pipes. NOTHING HAS CHANGED; the water in Flint is still unusable.

Moore is saying something that many liberals have been asking themselves throughout every single presidential election. Why do we not just count everyone’s votes and determine a winner that way? Despite a major Muslim protest at the Colosseum against the closure of illegal mosques, Rome police have continued shutting down so-called “garage mosques,” and now Muslims are threatening to invade Saint Peter’s Basilica to pray there.

This week, authorities closed down another makeshift mosque in Rome for failure to meet building norms and for non-compliance with safety standards, the sixth such mosque-closing in the last months.

In response, Muslims in Rome have threatened to invade the Vatican to pray in Saint Peter’s Basilica, which Italian media are calling Islamic “blackmail.”

“As many as 300 people can pray here; where will we go if it’s closed?”, said a young Muslim man identified only as “Hussein,” who works in a hardware store not from one of the “Islamic centers” that police have closed.

This center is located in the eastern suburbs, a district where half of the inhabitants are Muslims and the heart of the Islamic protest against the closure of Islamic places of worship.

“We live here, we work here, we cannot go to pray in Parioli [the other side of town],” says Anwar, the president of a neighborhood prayer hall.

“The problem must be solved at the social and political level,” said Bachcu, the organizer of the Coliseum protest. “Continuing with the closings will not solve anything. A prayer room cannot be closed due to a problem in urban planning. Prayer is our fundamental right and if they insist on shutting down the mosques, we will pray in the streets,” he said.

A number in Rome’s Muslim community have suggested staging a more provocative protest in the form of a “flash mob.”

“They wanted to go and pray ‘Allahu Akbar’ throughout the city, all the way to the Vatican,” said Bachcu. “In the end we managed to stop them, but if they start these initiatives, what do we do?”

Last month, thousands of Muslims gathered outside the Roman Colosseum to protest the closures of a number of “garage mosques,” purportedly to avoid young people becoming radicalized.

During the demonstration, an imam led the group in chanting “Allahu Akbar,” as they prostrated themselves on the ground….

This Leak Just Cost Thousands Of People Their Green Cards

When an immigrant comes through the country the LEGAL way, they are given a green card. It’s essentially a card that allows the immigrant to live in the United States and work and move towards becoming a legal citizen of the United States.

But just like everything else in this country, there has to be a lot of security done to make sure that the people that are being given green cards are actually safe to be in the country. Those that aren’t cleared are obviously denied the green cards that they want so badly.

At least that is how it should work. But a report that was made public showed that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security, just sent thousands of green cards to the wrong addresses. And yes, that is an extremely bad thing to hear.

According to a Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General report, thousands of green cards have gone missing. “It appears that thousands of green cards have simply gone missing. In the wrong hands, green cards may enable terrorists, criminals, and undocumented aliens to remain in the United States. It is vital that USCIS ensure better tools and procedures are in place to mitigate such risks.”

Wait a second, they simply vanished? How in the world is that possible? And now there are thousands of people that are waiting for their green cards and instead of getting them, potential terrorists and criminals are now able to stay in the United States. That is a significant risk to the United States!

These Refugees Could Be The Ones Benefitting From The Green Cards Instead Of The Approved People

In the past three years, the USCIS has received more than 200,000 reports from approved applicants saying that their cards were never delivered. Because THAT is an encouraging number to hear. This was a follow-up to a March IG report that said USCIS officials sent hundreds of green cards to the wrong addresses.

Obviously this report revealed, “The problem was far worse than originally thought.” I wonder what gave that away. Maybe it was the fact that the number of green cards missing went from hundreds to now THOUSANDS. The problem has literally multiplied by ten!

Unfortunately the actual number of missing cards is unknown. The problem is that USCIS relies on reports from applicants. So they can only give estimates on how many green cards are actually missing. That is an encouraging sign to hear.

And this also confirms that there is an increasing trend in the number of missing cards. Starting in fiscal year 2013 there were 44,519 reports about missing cards. That number jumped to 67,247 in fiscal year 2014. And finally for fiscal year 2015, the number was a staggering 92,645 reports filed for missing cards.

In addition to that the IG found that USCIS produced at least 19,000 cards that had incorrect information or were duplicates. They also gave cards with 10-year expiration dates to 2,400 immigrants that were only approved for two-year conditional residence status.

And did USCIS recover those incorrect cards? The answer would be a resounding NO. That means that there are dangerous people out there that have lawful citizenship and are using that time to plan an attack against the United States!

This Group, Under The Guidance Of The DHS, Is Responsible For Thousands Of Green Cards Going Missing

So who is to blame for all of this? After all, it isn’t a mistake that thousands upon thousands of green cards just suddenly go missing. The IG blamed most of the USCIS’s errors on the “flawed design and functionality” of the agency’s Electronic Immigration System (ELIS). They had previously reported on the cost overruns and delays in updating the agency’s immigration database.

The USCIS agreed with the IG’s recommendations to correct design and functionality problems with ELIS, create internal controls to make sure USCIS officials detect green cards early in the process. They also agreed to develop a standardized process for recovering incorrectly issued cards and to find a way to make sure that the unrecoverable cards are not used.

The USCIS has questioned the fairness of the IG’s finding on cards sent to the wrong addresses. They claim that USCIS uses the last known address of the applicant and the 200,000 figure includes people who call multiple times for service.

The fact of the matter is that they have no right to question this method. The USCIS is responsible for mishandling thousands of green cards, which could very well be in the hands of terrorists that are going to use it for terror. And as an adverse affect, there are people that were cleared to be here and can no longer stay in the country.

This isn’t the first time that the topic of immigration has come up. There was another instance with illegal immigrants where they were offended at the sight of the American flag. They actually made such a big deal out of it that a high school forced their kids to cover all of the American flags because they didn’t like the fact that the American flag was being proudly displayed. Illegal immigrants find a way to ruin everything that is considered to be pro-America it seems.

But illegal immigrants also have the support of President Obama behind them. There was one instance where he claimed that he “mistakenly” gave citizenship to a number of illegal immigrants. This was of course before the election so that they were going to vote for Hillary Clinton and do their best to get her elected. It was just another attempt to keep the Democrats in power no matter what.

Gunmen suspected to be Militants have killed four personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Obeafor, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local council of Rivers State.
The victims were on duty guarding a major oil and gas facility belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Obeafor when the gunmen who were said to be in military outfit invaded the site and shot them dead on Monday.Rivers State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mrs. Helen Amakiri said they received intelligence report that some persons were planning to attack the facility and deployed personnel to protect the area.

Listen, as this year comes to an end, NOTHING WILL STAND BETWEEN YOU AND THAT MIRACLE GOD HAS PACKAGED FOR YOU.

For 40 days, Goliath lifted and boasted about his destructive abilities. He spoke words, he acted the words and the spirit of fear and terror was unleashed on and against the people. The mind game started. What and who have you been listening to? God is going to humiliate them with your David in Jesus Christ name, amen.

I decree, every voice standing between you and the unveiling of your great destiny is destroyed today in Jesus Christ name.

No matter how big that Goliath appears, YOUR GOD is its creator.

Don’t let them stop you anymore. You are more than THAT STATE YOU HAVE ALLOWED THEM TO KEEP YOU. Rise up and let God.

A military pilot friend of mine once narrated to me how he was able to fly his plane in a very terrible, compromised, unpleasant and fearful enemy territory. He just asked God to take over and to the amazement of all, the plane and all in it survived and landed safely. God used that to advertise and show off his skills to the whole world and today, he is counted among the best in his country. That situation is going to be for your rising!

Today God, yes your God has taken over and He just crushed that Goliath, amen!

JEHOVAH L'HOMME DE GUERRE, EST DE VOTRE CÔTE!



VERSET CLÉ :

“Un soldat philistin quitte le rang et il s’avance entre les deux armées. Il cherche quelqu’un qui peut se battre contre lui. Ce soldat est de la ville de Gath. Il s’appelle Goliath. Il mesure à peu près trois mètres. Sur sa tête, il a mis un casque de bronze. Il a des plaques de bronze autour des jambes. Il porte une cuirasse faite en écailles de bronze. Cette cuirasse pèse 60 kilos. Sur sa poitrine, en travers, il porte une arme de bronze.

Le bois de sa lance est gros comme la barre d’un métier à tisser. La pointe de fer au bout de la lance pèse plus de sept kilos. Celui qui porte son bouclier marche devant lui. Goliath s’arrête et il crie aux soldats d’Israël: «Vous vous mettez en ordre de combat. Pourquoi donc? Je suis un Philistin, et vous, vous êtes les esclaves de Saül. Choisissez parmi vous un homme pour lutter contre moi. S’il arrive à me battre et s’il me tue, les Philistins deviendront vos esclaves. Mais si c’est moi qui arrive à le battre et si je le tue, c’est vous qui deviendrez nos esclaves.» Et il ajoute encore: «Aujourd’hui, je provoque l’armée d’Israël. Envoyez-moi un homme, et nous allons lutter l’un contre l’autre. »”

Bienvenue à la dévotion d'aujourd'hui. Écoutez; Comme cette année arrive à sa fin, RIEN NE SERA ENTRE VOUS ET LE MIRACLE QUE DIEU A EMBALLÉ POUR VOUS.

Pendant 40 jours, Goliath s'est levé et s'est vanté de ses capacités destructrices. Il a prononcé des paroles, il a joué avec les mots et l'esprit de peur et de terreur a été déchaîné contre le peuple. Le jeu mental a commencé. Qu'avez-vous écouté et qui? Dieu va les humilier avec votre David au nom de Jésus-Christ, amen.

Je décrète que chaque voix qui se tient entre vous et le dévoilement de votre grande destinée est détruite aujourd'hui en Jésus-Christ.

Peu importe la taille de ce Goliath apparaît, VOTRE DIEU est son créateur.

Ne les laissez plus vous arrêter. Vous êtes plus que CET ÉTAT DANS LEQUEL VOUS LEUR AVEZ PERMIS DE VOUS TENIR. Lève-toi et laisse Dieu.

Un ami pilote militaire m'a raconté une fois comment il était capable de piloter son avion dans un territoire ennemi terrible, compromis, désagréable et craintif. Il a simplement demandé à Dieu de prendre le relais et à l'étonnement de tous, l'avion et tout ce qui s'y trouvait a survécu et a atterri en toute sécurité. Dieu a utilisé cela pour faire de la publicité et montrer ses compétences au monde entier et aujourd'hui, il est compté parmi les meilleurs dans son pays.

Aujourd'hui, Dieu, oui, votre Dieu a pris le dessus et Il a juste écrasé ce Goliath!
