Why I Did Not Arrest And Detain Buhari During My Reign - Jonathan
In what appears like a criticism of his successor’s selective anti-corruption war, and intolerance for freedom of speech, former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has tactically revealed why he did not detain President Muhammadu Buhari, during his reign.

Recall, that prior to the 2015 election, Buhari, the then Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had threatened violence, if the 2015 elections were rigged in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“If what happened in 2011 (alleged rigging) should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.’’

Buhari had said. Speaking at a dinner he attended in the United States, on Saturday evening, Jonathan said, “under my watch, not a single Nigerian was sent to prison, because of anything they wrote, or said about me, or the administration that I headed,”

He added that, “Nigeria had neither political prisoners, nor political exile under my administration.” Jonathan, who was the keynote Speaker at the Nigerian Lawyers Association’s Annual Dinner and Merit Awards ceremony, held in New York, mentioned some factors he considered to be his administration’s democratic credentials.

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari has promised to work with relevant agencies to tackle issues of rape, forced and early marriage, continuing prevalence of HIV and drug abuse among youths in Northern Nigeria.

Mrs Buhari stated this when she received the wives of northern governors who paid her a courtesy visit at the State House, Abuja on Monday, October 31. The Northern Governors wives forum had earlier met to discuss these key challenges and ways of tackling them.

Mrs Aisha Buhari commended the northern governors wives forum for identifying these challenges and emphasized her readiness to work with them to make sure that societal ills in the country are addressed. She added that her effort in assisting the less privileged and vulnerable children in Nigeria wouldn't have been possible without their support.

Also speaking, the wife of Kebbi State Governor Dr. Zainab Bagudu, said they came to felicitate with the president and the wife of the President on the recent release of some of the Chibok schoolgirls.

Dr Bagudu also said there was a big improvement of the security situation in Nigeria, especially in the north east. Chief Of Army Staff, Buratai Says Niger Delta Militants Have Turned Into Terrorists

Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has stated that Niger Delta Militants have declared themselves terrorists.

He spoke after flagging off Operation Crocodile Smile at the 2 Brigade Barracks, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to him, since the militants came up with Operation crocodile tears, it was a clear indication of their intention to terrorise Nigerians.

“That is what they are (militants) terrorists, they want people to be in tears. We (military) want people to smile. They are just terrorising us,” he said.

He then advised the militants to unite if they were truly determined to go into genuine dialogue with the Federal Government.

Pass Mock Exam 'Get WAEC/NECO Paid For' - Gov. Shettima Tells Borno SS3 Students

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has told Senior Secondary School (SSIII) students in the State to pass mock entrance examination, particularly Mathematics and English language in order for the state government to pay for their West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO).

The governor said this Monday through his State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Musa Kubo, who disclosed this when he paid a visit to students and teachers of Women Teachers College, Government Girls Secondary School and Mafoni Senior Day Secondary School; all in Maiduguri.

Kubo noted that there would be need for the final year students of the above schools to undergo a mock test, so that those who passed the mock exams would have their WAEC/NECO fees paid by the government. He added that the government will not be happy to spend millions of naira on examination fees when a large number of the students would not do well in their results.

This directive is coming two years after public schools in Borno State were closed down due to activities of insurgents, but reopened last month.

The Commissioner however stated that the State government, under Governor Kashim Shettima, would continue to pay the fees of WAEC/NECO for students every year, adding that with the closure of schools in the state in the past two years, some of the students, who had overstayed at home without reading, might not be fit to write the 2016 WAEC/NECO.

Fresh Disaster Hits Nigeria As Erisco Foods Shuts Down, Relocates To China

Erisco Foods Limited yesterday announced the closure of its tomato manufacturing plants in Nigeria, citing an unfavourable operating climate, which has escalated operational costs in recent months.

President/CEO of Erisco Foods Limited, Chief Eric Umeofia, who addressed a press conference in Lagos Tuesday, said the company had concluded plans to relocate the manufacturing aspect of the business to China from where finished products would be imported and sold to consumers in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

According to him, the decision to shut down the Nigerian manufacturing plant was taken after the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum given by the management of the company to the Federal Government to compel the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to make available adequat foreign exchange to assist in the imports of raw materials as well as the requisite equipment needed to keep the manufacturing plants running and also profitable. The company had also urged the Federal Government to compel regulatory agencies like NAFDAC, SON and the Federal Ministries of Agriculture, Industry, Trade and Investment to end the importation and dumping of substandard tomato pastes in the country.

“As from today, November 1, 2016, we have commenced the winding down of our tomato manufacturing business in Nigeria and it’s a decision we have taken after the 30-day ultimatum to government expired without our terms being met,” Umeofia said.

“We are moving the factory to China from where we will manufacture and bring back to Nigeria while also selling to other overseas clients. It pays us that way as a business because in recent months, our continuous operation in Nigeria has resulted in a loss of over N3.6 billion.

“Because of the huge machines we have to move out, winding down will last us about nine months as we plan to first exhaust the existing raw materials we have before moving our equipment out to China.

“It’s unfortunate that out of a workforce of about 2,000 Nigerians that we have, we will be disengaging about 1,500 of these workers as we need just about 40 staff to keep the Nigerian company running since what we will now be doing is just restricted to marketing and sales of imported products from our China plant. My business has been deliberately frustrated by the way the CBN has managed forex bidding and allocation.

“They won’t give us forex to import machinery, machine spare parts and raw materials for processing Nigerian fresh tomatoes into paste in our Lagos factory and they won’t give us approval to use our own money (about $460,00 generated from our foreign operations to import our raw materials.

They won’t also check dumping because of the powerful nature of the import cabals. This decision is therefore final and there is no going back on it; nothing will make us to come back even in the future because we have found out that we can import tomato paste into Nigeria and still make huge profits,” he added.

‎He said the company had similarly abandoned the Katsina State backward integration programme with the Certificate of Occupancy on the 2,400 hectares of land issued to the company returned to the state government.

By Jennifer Harper - The Washington Times
Monday, October 31, 2016

Law enforcement officers, Medal of Honor winners, senior military brass, former members of the Ronald Reagan administration, Polish-Americans, Asian-Pacific Americans, conservative leaders, evangelicals, gun owners and NASCAR drivers are among the interest groups who have formally endorsed Donald Trump for president.

One more organization to the has announced their support for Mr. Trump. A newly formed Native American Coalition is made up of members who hail from tribal organizations in 15 states and include both grass-roots leaders and elected officials.

“The daily flood of new federal regulations keep Indian Country from becoming self-sufficient. Local tribal decisions, not federal bureaucrats, are the best way to improve our communities. As both an enrolled member of Cherokee Nation and a member of Congress, I will stand with Donald Trump in supporting tribal sovereignty and reining in federal over-regulation,” said Rep. Markwayne Mullin, Oklahoma Republican and chairman of the group.

“As a local elected official, I am outraged that Indian Country is prevented from harnessing our own energy resources by ever-increasing regulations,” said New Mexico State Rep. Sharon Clahchischilliage. “The Trump administration will ease restrictions on American energy reserves worth trillions of dollars. Together we will block the bureaucrats holding Native American businesses back and bring new jobs into our communities.”

The organization also cites other troublesome policies.

“Hillary Clinton’s war on coal interferes with our sovereign right to develop energy on native lands. We need a new traffic cop so the federal government stops playing gatekeeper with tribal economies,” said Ross Swimmer, former Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

Former Poarch Band of Creek Indian chairman Eddie Tullis noted that Mrs. Clinton “favors union bosses over tribal authority,” suggesting that native communities be treated like state governments in labor matters.

“Native Americans need a federal government that gets out of the way of small business. As an independent and a successful small businessman, I crossed the line this week and voted for Mr. Trump,” said Fleming Begaye Sr., one of America’s revered Navajo Code Talkers, and an honorary chairman of the new coalition.

BREAKING: Obama To Possibly SUSPEND Election

Written by Joe Cruz (2 days ago)

Hillary Clinton was hit with a nuclear bomb on Friday when the FBI reopened their investigation into her use of a personal email server as Secretary of State. Now, rumors are circulating that she may drop out of the election, and some are saying that Barack Obama will even SUSPEND the election over this.

According to Three Percent Nation, Clinton may be forced out of the race if the FBI is able to find something in the emails quickly enough, which would mean the Democrats would need time to pick a new candidate. USA News reported that Yale Law School professor Akhil Reed Amar admitted it is possible for Obama to delay the election until January 20, with the speaker of the House serving as acting president until an election could pick “a real president for the remainder of the term.”

Given how power hungry Obama is, we wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to delay the election for as long as possible to keep himself in office. He has also demonstrated that he is desperate to ensure Donald Trump does not make it to the White House, so he could delay the election until his party has time to find someone who could actually beat Trump.
